1 The new standing with the old, each acknowledging the other…
This photo of I.M. Pei’s restrained, Modern glass and steel pyramid in the center of the Cour Napoleon juxtaposed with the ornate classical storytelling structure of the Denon wing of the Louvre was the starting point for a tour we gave today to a small group of collectors.

2 We explored various styles and periods of functional design starting with this incredible Persian bronze table top decorated with writhing snakes and torsos of divinities from whose hands water originally spouted. We love the continuity over the centuries of the fusion of functional design with decorative elements. Created over 3,500 years ago, this table would fit into a contemporary interior as well as it would have in ancient Persia.

3 A few steps away from the Louvre in our favorite gallery tucked away behind the Palais-Royal we found two ideas for Modern seating to go with this Persian treasure in the Louvre.  Imagine these super elegant, light-as-air 1970 Maison Jansen chairs next to the massive bronze table! - oh to dream!

5  … across the Seine we became enchanted by the real possibilities of this modern ebony and stainless steel masterpiece by Guy de Rougemont called Archipelago!  The wonderfully successful use of serpentine lines to create an amorphic-shaped table is as old as design itself yet we are captured by Rougemont’s masterful use of materials and his flair for referencing Minimal and Pop art.
We found our perfect table!
