Michel Mangematin

Michel Mangematin (1928 - 2012), the French architect who studied in the workshops of Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe created a small, but exquisite number of design pieces. He in fact only designed three pieces of furniture, all of which you can see in our photographs, and all with the same legs and minimal framework. His dedication to architecture and his teaching in Clermont Ferrand took up the majority of his time.
This pair of bronze and altuglass armchairs were in a gallery in Paris and we were struck by their simplicity and clarity of design.
